BACKGROUND
The media production professionals at one of Poland’s largest private broadcasting companies, TVN S.A., have been very familiar with the PROMISE VTrak line of high performance storage hardware for over 15 years. TVN S.A. has been using VTrak from the first generation at their facility in Poland’s capital city Warsaw, also the largest city and largest broadcast media market.
The post production staff at TVN S.A. currently uses the VTrak E5000 Series storage systems with several video editing applications. Their past experience with VTrak Ex30 and Ex10 Series convinced them that PROMISE VTrak provides the best performance for their busy workflow schedule. They needed a high performance digital media storage system to enable many concurrent clients (up to 150 clients) to work on the same volume (volume size of up to 1.5 petabytes). A variety of client applications are used on the volume, including Avid Media Composer and Pro Tools, Adobe Creative Cloud, Apple Final Cut Pro, Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve and Fusion, Boris FX and others. Volumes on VTrak storage systems easily handle complex timelines using multiple video tracks on formats up to 4K UHD. The crew also uses different compressions, including high-bandwidth codecs such as XAVC Class 480.
SOLUTION
TVN S.A. had previously used earlier generations of VTrak, starting with the Ex10 Series, and the later Ex30 Series. The VTrak E5000 Series continues to be a perfect t for the requirements of the TVN S.A. post production team.
