Pegasus J4

The Fastest 2.5"  HDD/SSD Thunderbolt™ Enabled Storage

The Pegasus J4 is designed from the ground up for creative professionals and multimedia enthusiasts who demand incredible versatility and amazing performance in a storage solution. The J4 enables you to work remotely with a laptop and edit footage on-site, delivers the flexibility to customize the solution, and provides the performance to optimize your workflow.

Save Countless Working Hours
The Pegasus J4 is the fastest 2.5” HDD/SSD Thunderbolt enabled solution available, reaching transfer speeds exceeding 750MB/s with SSDs installed and up to 480MB/s with hard disks (7200 rpm HDD) installed. This incredible performance is not only achieved because Pegasus best leverages Thunderbolt technology, but also because its 4-bay design enables the performance to reach lighting fast levels that competing 1 or 2-bay solutions simply can’t match. This is crucial for creative pros, because for you it’s all about moving high resolution video and graphic files that take up a lot of space at stunningly high speeds. The J4 now saves you countless working hours!

Additionally, since the J4 supports daisy chaining, you can conveniently connect Thunderbolt enabled displays or Pegasus storage devices to boost overall transfer speeds.

Incredibly Versatile
The Pegasus J4 offers an amazing amount of versatility. The compact, efficient design enables you to work remotely with a laptop to backup footage and start editing high resolution video right on-site. The J4 can also serve as your secondary storage device, enabling you to copy data from a Mac and Pegasus R4/R6 so you can take projects to a client and instantly edit content without even having to go back to your office. This is perfect for those clients who just never give you enough time! Plus, its aluminum design is lightweight and durable so it’ll easily handle the knocks you encounter when moving around.

Just How You Like It
The Pegasus J4 delivers the flexibility to purchase a plug and play model with 4 hard disks pre-installed or to purchase the J4 enclosure and customize the solution to meet the requirements of your application. Graphic artists and photographers working with raw images and high-resolution files can deploy a solution with the compatible drives* of their choice to meet the requirements of their application.

*Note: Please select the HDD from the J4 HDD compatibility list and make sure the height of the HDD you select is below 9.5mm.

Your Work is Too Important to Lose
The Pegasus J4 conveniently lets you configure the RAID level required for your application. If you need the data protection of disk mirroring, configure the J4 in RAID 1 so your data will be safe even if an installed disk fails. If you need super-fast speed for video editing, configure the J4 in RAID 0. Even better, combine both needs and configure two daisy chained J4s in a RAID 10 (RAID 1 + RAID 0) for performance and redundancy. Creative professionals can now enjoy lightning fast and safe backups for all their huge video and photo libraries.

The Perfect Companion for a Mac mini
The Pegasus J4 is the perfect stackable companion for a Mac mini to create a cost effective server-storage solution. By combining a Mac mini with the J4, you can enjoy the peace of mind provided by a Thunderbolt enabled RAID storage device as well as the freedom to add Pegasus devices when you require more capacity. Plus, if you need more power you can always update to the next generation of Mac mini servers for state-of-the-art performance.

About Thunderbolt Technology
Thunderbolt technology is a revolutionary, high-speed, dual-protocol I/O technology developed by Intel and Apple, designed for performance, robustness, simplicity, and flexibility. Thunderbolt delivers two channels of 10Gb/s (1.25GB/s) per port of blistering performance. PCI Express (PCIe) expansion bus protocol is integrated with DisplayPort protocol in a single cable for simultaneous data transmission and video output with no performance degradation.

The throughput speed of Thunderbolt enables transfer of terabytes in a small fraction of time of competing connection technologies. The huge bandwidth allows digital media professionals to edit HD video stored on the Pegasus with software (such as Apple Final Cut, Autodesk Smoke, or Adobe Premiere), improve work flow efficiency, and save time and money.
