Super Capers: The Origins of Ed and the Missing Bullion

"A good guy with no powers joins a superhero team with no clue against a bad guy with no shame."

Thus begins the story of Ed Gruberman in the upcoming RG Entertainment release "Super Capers".

Super Capers
Written by Ray Griggs, Super Capers stars include Justin Whalin, Michael Rooker, and Tom Sizemore.
Super Capers is the story of Ed Gruberman. Ed is a normal person but he dreams of being a superhero. Ed has no superpowers, but this does not deter him from fighting crime. Unfortunately for Ed, things don't go as planned and he ends up arrested and charged with superhero brutality. Convicted of the crime, he is sentenced by a judge to join a team of heroes-in-training, the Super Capers. After Ed and the team go on to stop a robbery, Ed finds himself framed for the crime. Now Ed must face his past and stop the villain if he is to save the Super Capers and clear his name.

Independent Filmmaking
The filming and editing of Super Capers presented certain challenges to Ray Griggs, the independent filmmaker who wrote, produced, directed, and even starred in the film.
"Super Capers was shot on 35mm film, which means that we needed to edit it in 2k block sizes," said producer/director Ray Griggs. "We did all of our editing in Final Cut Pro HD so we really needed to find a system that would be able to handle that amount of data. We decided to go with the PROMISE solution since that is what was recommended by Apple."
When filming was complete, Griggs ended up with a total of 50TB of data that he stored on his PROMISE VTrak RAID systems. In all, he used a total of five VTrak systems. His solution included one E-Class RAID unit and four connected VTrak JBOD units. The storage was then connected to five Mac editing stations through a Fibre Channel switch. The complete storage system was then placed within mobile rack so that it could be easily moved around the editing room.

"We found the performance of the VTrak to be really amazing," said Griggs and added, "We never had a problem with the units."
It wasn't just the performance that of the VTrak that Griggs found impressive. "We got the VTrak when it was still new to Apple and we had some questions. Whenever we called PROMISE there was always somebody there with an answer to our questions."
"We will continue to use PROMISE for future projects."
Super Capers opens nationwide March 20, 2009
