3. DECLARATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
This system received the following approvals and may be labeled with one or more of these marks depending on point of purchase:
Through internal design controls and supply chain declarations, this system has been verified to comply with the EU RoHS Directive. In 2006, the EU RoHS Directive went into effect. The directive restricts the use of cadmium, hexavalent chromium, lead, mercury and certain halogenated flame-retardants (PBBs and PBDEs) in electronic products. PROMISE has voluntarily adopted the requirements of the directive globally to help eliminate waste, conserve energy and reduce environmentally sensitive materials.
Through internal design controls and supply chain declarations, this system has been verified to comply with the EU WEEE Directive.
The PROMISE SmartStor NAS product will not provide the power consumption measurement on the off/standby modes defined on the “Guidelines accompanying Commission Regulation (EC) No 1275/2008 of 17 December 2008 implementing Directive 2005/32/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for standby and off-mode electric power consumption of electrical and electronic household equipment” because of the product’s applications.
The PROMISE SmartStor NAS series focus on the network applications. PROMISE SmartStor NAS related products will be used as the File Server, WebServer, FTP server, download server and Surveillance system. The real application will work on 24 hours to provide the data service. When this product is installed on the network, all service requests into this device will pass through the network. The SmartStor NAS products need to provide the application services to multi-users at the same time. So, the SmartStor NAS series are the infrastructure elements that may connect products in a network for which the end-user has no direct control. It’s not a single functional unit intended for the end-user.

7. DESIGN FOR ENVIRONMENT
Longevity and Upgrading
PROMISE systems are, when applicable, designed for easy assembly, disassembly, and servicing. To extend the life of your system, you can install or upgrade certain system components (e.g., storage devices). Spare parts are available after the end of production for up to five years, or otherwise through the warranty period.
For recyclability, this system incorporates the following design guidelines:
EU WEEE mark is applied to products sold in Europe
Minimal use of non-separable connections, such as gluing and welding between different materials.
Minimal use of composite structure materials.
Painting/varnishing plastic material has been avoided
9. RECYCLING/ END-OF-LIFE SERVICE INFORMATION
Take back and recycling services are offered for this product in certain countries. PROMISE believes no storage system should go to waste. keep environmentally sensitive materials out of landfills, enable materials to be recycled or reused, and help conserve natural resources
